Sunday School

Adult Sunday School Series 
Learn or re-learn the wonderful history of our Wesleyan faith and spiritual practices. Conducted as an ‘Adult Confirmation’ or Reconfirmation’ experience, this group will begin with Adam Hamilton’s Revival curriculum, then continue learning about The Book of Discipline, our Social Principles, our celebration of rituals (Baptism and Communion), about our uniqueness in the United Methodist Connection and more, as determined by the group.
 
Faith Matters This class, taught by Rev. Dr. Alice Wolfe, discusses books by popular Christian writers, faith issues, and seasonal topics. They meet on Sunday mornings at 10:15 in Room 22.
 
Ark Builders This class discusses contemporary faith-based topics. Books are selected according to the interests of the group. This class enjoys lively discussion and class interaction. They meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00am in Room 22.

 United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons throuh Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
 
The UMW are involved in projects to support local and gloal missions such as bake sales, pecan and cheese sales, greeting cards, cookie walks, quilting, collecting Box Tops for Education and sponsoring the Sweetheart Luncheon for church members 80 years and older. Other Ministries

Men’s Breakfast
Men’s breakfast meets on the first Saturday of the month at 8:00am, in the Rising House, September through May. All men are welcome to join in fellowship. Please RSVP to the church, 740-653-3330, by the Friday prior.
 
Mid-Week Bible Study
Wednesdays 4-5 p.m. at Crossroads
This adult bible study is facilitated by one of our pastors and examines the preaching text for the upcoming Sunday. The format welcomes questions and shared discussion.
 
Church Library
The library is open on Sundays from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The library has plenty of books, CDs and videos to learn and grow in your faith.
Chair Volleyball
Chair volleyball is a fun way to stay active, have fun and develop friendships with others. Our team practices regularly at our Crossroads Ministry Center and competes with other teams in the community. Please check the church calendar on our Events page to see which Wednesdays they will be at our Crossroads Ministry Center. then, you can just show up at 2:30 that day & come play. They can give you more information or answer any questions you may have that day!
 

Disciple 3 Bible Study will begin on Sept. 25, 7:00-8:30pm, at Crossroads. Pastor Brian will lead the 24-week Study that covers the Old Testament prophets and the writings of Paul. You are welcome even if you have not taken a prior Disciple Bible Study. Please sign up in the parlor, or call the church to sign up, 740-653-3330.

 
 

NEW STUDY: A Biblical Understanding of Women (START DATE POSTPONED!) What does the Bible say about women, their place in society, and their ability to lead? Throughout the ages, many have debated what the Bible says about these topics. Pastor Alice will lead a 3-week study that digs into the Old and New Testaments to help us better understand what God says about women and their role in society and God’s kingdom. Men, women, and youth are welcome! The study will be held on Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., on the following dates: Oct. 17, Nov. 7, and Nov. 21 (in room 26) (We will NOT meet on Oct. 3 as originally planned because many can’t attend.) **If you have questions or are interested, please contact Pastor Alice (alicewolfe@love-first.org or 740-653- 3330).
