Creative Ministries

Let’s get creative!

One of the first things God did in relationship to humanity was create – and look at how creative God’s creation was (and is). You are created to create, too. Within you is the ability to be creative.

The Creative Ministries at FUMC has lots of ways you can get those creative juices flowing for the glory of God.

Our magic ministry shares Christian messages through the art of illusion. If you’ve ever wanted to be a magician or even an assistant, come join us! Age 15 or older (younger by special arrangement). Learn more here.

We’re not talking sock puppets. Virtuous Reality Puppets is a black light theater team that shares the Good News through puppetry and blacklight techniques. They perform at churches, festivals and conferences. Persons who are 10 or older may participate. Learn more here.

Right around the corner is the Lancaster Holiday parade. We want to make a big impression in the parade and so we need lots of people to fill the costumes and walk the parade route. A sign-up sheet is in the Parlor.

Clowning reaches out with the Gospel in ways and places that other methods can’t. Clowns let others know they are loved and that they make a difference. Clowning is a fun way to serve others. Persons sixteen years or older are encouraged to find the clown inside of them. Join the fun! They participate in parades, perform programs for children and adults at churches, festivals, etc.
Visual Arts & Video
If you have artistic skills or a good eye for decorating, videotaping or editing, there are many ways you can get involved at the church. Set designs, painting, room decor/design, bulletin board displays, costuming, banners, stoles and more! A very flexible ministry allows you the freedom to be as involved as you would like.

Creative Ministry News:

Fall is here! The kickoff to our busiest quarter of the year. We start the month with a Creative Ministry Festival at Crossroads on October 2nd and end the month with a Halloween Experience on the 30th.

Help is especially needed for the Halloween event. We need people to sit along the Trick-Or-Treat Trail and hand out candy, people to run carnival games and inflatables as well as people to serve hallow-wieners and cobweb candy. Please consider where you would be able to help and sign up in the church parlor or contact John Coen (johncoen@love-first.org)

We also need donations of candy (chocolate welcome!) to hand out on the trail. Donation boxes are at the church and Crossroads. If you prefer to give a financial gift, make it out to the First United Methodist and earmark it “Carnival”.

Right around the corner is the Lancaster Holiday parade. We want to make a big impression in the parade and so we need lots of people to fill the costumes and walk the parade route. A sign-up sheet is in the Parlor.
