Creative Ministries

Let’s get creative!

One of the first things God did in relationship to humanity was create – and look at how creative God’s creation was (and is). You are created to create, too. Within you is the ability to be creative.

The Creative Ministries at FUMC has lots of ways you can get those creative juices flowing for the glory of God.

Our magic ministry shares Christian messages through the art of illusion. If you’ve ever wanted to be a magician or even an assistant, come join us! Age 15 or older (younger by special arrangement). Learn more here.
We’re not talking sock puppets. Virtuous Reality Puppets is a black light theater team that shares the Good News through puppetry and blacklight techniques. They perform at churches, festivals and conferences. Persons who are 10 or older may participate. Learn more here.
Clowning reaches out with the Gospel in ways and places that other methods can’t. Clowns let others know they are loved and that they make a difference. Clowning is a fun way to serve others. Persons sixteen years or older are encouraged to find the clown inside of them. Join the fun! They participate in parades, perform programs for children and adults at churches, festivals, etc.
Visual Arts & Video
If you have artistic skills or a good eye for decorating, videotaping or editing, there are many ways you can get involved at the church. Set designs, painting, room decor/design, bulletin board displays, costuming, banners, stoles and more! A very flexible ministry allows you the freedom to be as involved as you would like.

With the COVID concerns we have been dealing with all year, the concern of social distancing during our Halloween Carnival has prompted us to revamp this event for our 2020 lifestyle. We are planning a “Halloween Experience” to replace the carnival. It will have all the fun of the carnival but families will be personally guided through the event by a “Ghost Host”. The Ghost Host will maintain the social distancing between family units, eliminating all lines as well as a need for tickets (although a reservation will be required). Families will receive a sack of “Halloweiners” and some “Cobweb Candy” to take home with them, eliminating the need for tables & chairs or the removal of masks.
The Trick-Or-Treat Trail, games and inflatables will still be included in the experience.
With this new concept, we will still require as many, if not more, volunteers to help as guides, hosts, food service workers, game operators, etc. The time commitment will most likely be 4-9 p.m. in order to accommodate the new processing.
We also are in need of candy donations for the Trick-Or-Treat Trail. Individually wrapped candies. Chocolate is welcome!! Donation boxes are at the church and at Crossroads or you can make a financial donation if you prefer that we purchase the candy for you. Financial gifts should go to the Business Office marked “Halloween Event”.
Please contact John Coen ( or sign up in the parlor if you can help.

New this year will be “Santa Land”, a walk-through featuring Christmas Displays, Model Trains and, of course, Santa Claus! Santa is excited to be able to take time this year to be a part of our events on November 29th and December 6th. Volunteers are needed to help staff Santa Land. Staff will be dressed like gingerbread chefs, elves, snowmen, etc. to make the experience a magical one for families. Santa Land operation hours coincide with our Nativity Festival (29th) and Blacklight Christmas Shows (6th) .
We especially need help on December 6th, where we anticipate more families and most of the Creative Ministry volunteers are busy performing the Blacklight Show. Contact John Coen or sign up in the parlor.
Nov. 29th hours- 6-8:30 p.m.
Dec. 6 hours 3-5:30 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.
