General Advance Special Projects

Covenant Relationship The church is honored to be in Mission under a Covenant Relationship with United Methodist Missionaries to Italy— Revs. David and Kristin Markay. In the past we have supported the Markays as they served in Lithuania and as Missionaries in Residence in the United States.
Africa Supports hunger and agricultural ministries to help people provide for themselves. Also supports children’s ministries, which provide relief to thousands of children orphaned by war, AIDS, and other disasters.
Russia Supports orphanages by providing clothes, school resources, and Christian literature. Also supports the development of United Methodist churches, including support groups and community outreach programs.
Good Works, Athens, Ohio Provides emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as vocational and mental health counseling, to rural homeless people in southeastern Ohio.
Jackson Area Ministries Serves in an Appalachian area of Ohio with an emphasis on volunteer work projects; the center provides resources to enable persons and congregations to respond to issues and needs and to enable people to help themselves.
House of the Carpenter, Inc., Wheeling, West Virginia Includes emergency services, hunger advocacy, a homeless coalition and health clinics in severely depressed areas of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Global Missions Partner First UMC also is in Mission through the Global Mission Partner Program of the United Methodist Church. Being a Global Mission Partner (GMP) we support a position and not a particular person. Our support allows an indigenous person to serve in their own country. Through our support we are helping someone to have a job and additionally contribute to the local economy by providing the wages spent by the person.
