One of the best ways to grow in our faith is to be in a small group with others—to study and wrestle with God’s Word with others, ask questions, learn from each other, share with each other, and pray with and for each other. First United Methodist Church offers a variety of small groups, and we invite you to check them out! If you would like to learn more about these small groups or to form a new small group that we don’t currently have, please contact the church, 740-653-3330.

Please pray about joining one of our small groups—or starting one of your own:

Adult Sunday School:

Faith Matters Sunday school: “Around the Bible in 70 Days”  Join us for a 10-week journey through the Bible as we follow along with the History Channel miniseries “The Bible.” Each week you’ll watch an episode on your own, and then we will discuss the scriptures behind each episode when we meet – Sundays at 10:15am in Room 22 or on zoom starting September 4th. This study will help us understand the history of the relationship between God and his creations and reveal new insights into your personal relationship with Christ. The study is appropriate for both adults and youth who want to gain a better understanding of the Bible and its teachings and themes—regardless of whether you are already familiar with the Bible or whether you haven’t had a Bible class since 3rd grade. Please sign up in the Parlor and contact Renee Benham for the zoom link, how to get a copy of the DVD, and other questions.

Ark Builders
Adult Sunday School Class:
On SEPTEMBER 11, a six-week study entitled “Called” by Susan Robb will begin in Room 22 at 9 a.m. on Sunday Morning and you are invited to be a part of this study. God calls us to a life that we could never imagine on our own. Throughout the Bible, God interrupts the lives of ordinary men and women, calling and empowering them to lives of service they never could have imagined on their own! Join us for this study as we grow deeper in our faith journey by exploring God’s call. (Books are available in the Parlor.)

Ready for Water Walking? Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is Jesus telling you, as he did Peter, “Come”? Stepping outside our traditional comfort zone can be scary but Jesus calls us to Him and to serve in places and with persons unfamiliar to us. Consider the incredible potential of meeting Jesus on the risky waters of faith, where your life can be changed, your faith deepened, and your trust in God strengthened! Join us for a six-week study on John Ortberg’s book If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat. Textbooks can be picked up at the church. Questions? Contact Judy Hug at church 653-3330 ext 1009 or judyhug@love-first.org
