Mfuta School mission project. UMC Missionary Jane Wise has asked us to help with the costs to finish the Mfuta School in Kasenga District in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa. We hope to raise $15,000 to finish the school. The children there cannot read or write. The school will Bless them with a more hopeful future. Look for more information on our website, in the Parlor and in the display case. Mark your gift with the designation ‘Mfuta School Project’

Make a splash this summer and get ready to dive into friendship with God at SCUBA Vacation Bible School (July 8-12, 6-8:30 pm)!! We have the chance to help children, ages 4-completed 5th grade, discover that God is a real friend who we can trust, who loves us forever, and who loves everyone. Make a forever difference in a child’s life this Summer. Early VBS paid registrations include a Free SCUBA VBS T-Shirt! Registrations received AFTER June 16th will not receive a t-shirt! Go to vbspro.events/p/fumc2024 to register either as a volunteer or as a participant. Registration is $10 per participant with a family maximum of $25. Scholarships available, contact Pastor Amy for more information, 740-653-3330 or amywood@love-first.org

Please join us! Projects: pillowcase making, VBS decoration construction, and shut-in visitation. Questions, please contact Judy Kraft at 740-653-3330 or judykraft@love-first.org. Who doesn’t enjoy a Sweet Treat on occasion? Come join the fun on Second Saturdays each month at Crossroads and package homemade cookies and fresh fruit for our members/friends who are no longer able to join us physically in worship. Be the Church for those who have served so diligently in our past. There are two ways in which to be involved – donate cookies and/or fresh fruit, and/or deliver the Sweet Treats packages to no more than 4-5 people in their home. Bagging the treats begins at 8:30am and most are completed by 11am. Invite a friend or family member to go with you – it’s more fun being in ministry together!

Do you have someone in your family 11-15 years of age who wants to babysit? Perhaps you know of a neighbor in that age group that you would want to babysit for your children. If you are interested in taking, or having someone else take, a Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course, contact Judy Hug. There must be at least five participants before scheduling a class. Contact Judy Hug, 740-653-3330, ext. 1003 or judyhug@love-first.org

Every single day in our community, tens of thousands of mothers must use (and re-use) diapers because they can’t afford to purchase enough diapers to keep their child clean, dry, and healthy. It’s a sad fact that one in three families need help to diaper their babies. Join us as we partner with Bottoms Up Diaper Bank during the month of May for a historic journey to make life a little easier for moms and their babies in our local communities. Bottom’s Up has an ambitious goal to collect 1,000,000 diapers during the month of May. Donations can be brought to the Parlor on Sunday mornings or during the week, Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

A reminder that cyber-criminals and con artists are using more and more technology to scam people. Please know that should you ever receive an email or text from anyone on staff asking for money or gift-cards, it’s not from the staff. Should you receive an email or text or are ever in doubt, please feel free to call the church at 740-653-3330, and we will take the appropriate action. Thank you!
